I may have a straightener collecting problem but I can't help it, I feel like they all serve different purposes. I really wanted this one because it's so much longer and skinnier than any others that I have. The hot plate goes right to the edge so you don't lose any distance between where you clamp your hair and where it begins to straighten. I have a wet 2 dry straightener that I love but I can't get the baby hairs as easily with it as I can get with this new flat iron.I was able to get the front of my head straightened easier with this iron than my fatter other ones that are more than an inch. It left my hair smooth and shiny.There's a lock at the bottom of the handle which keeps the blades locked flat together when engaged, instead of them being separated like you usually see straighteners in that partially open shape unless u wrapped the cord around to tighten.There's no temperature dial, you click through to preset temperatures. It heated quickly.I have very thick and veryong hair so I don't know that I would use this in my entire head as that may take a while but it's a great supplemental straightener for getting those front pieces how I want. Women with unruly (not straight) hair know that sometimes if you just clean up or straighten the hairs around you face you look so much more put together.
